Mixed Creative Crafts (2) – Friday 6th January 2017

Course aim
On this class we will experiment with different creative crafts giving you a taste of what you can achieve. Very practical.

Who is the course for?
Students must be prepared to engage in the research element of this course.

Course description
Practical mixed craft class

What topics will this course cover and how will they relate to the theme(s) for this course?
We will have a go at different skills each week. We will try sewing machine skills, hand sewing skills, weaving and knitting, paper crafts and many more.

What will it be like?
WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment.

The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • be able to thread the sewing machine up and sew with the correct tension
  • to thread up embroidery thread and complete a range of stitches to use a range of colours to create texture on the pages of a plain book
  • to knit a simple square of knitting

How will I know I’m making progress?
Assessment throughout. Verbal feedback and extra demonstrations if needed
