Wednesday, 8 March was International Women’s Day and Anne and Julie from the Action Living in Learning team were invited to attend an open day held at Nottingham Women’s Centre. Anne and Julie set up a stall so that they could inform women, of all ages and backgrounds, about the Mental Health research project.
‘What attracted most people to come and talk to us was that we had a display of photos and samples of crafts which other ALL students had made. And when we explained that these volunteers had no previous experience, they were bowled over. What really made our day, was spotting ladies who had previously been on an ALL courses, who stopped by just to chat and encouraged their friends to undertake the informal interview to see if they too were suitable to attend the course and take part in the research.’
